Sonia Pérez is born in Camaguey in Cuba, she started her musical career at the age of ten with guitar lessons. Soon after her first performance followed as a singer in the Casa de la Cultura in Camaguey. At the age of nineteen she became a professional soloist and played a show in hotel Camaguey with Contacto. In the next years Sonia Pérez preformed with the groups La Orquesta de Música Moderna, Lagrimas Negras, Maravilla De Florida and others, playing in different parts of Cuba. At the same time Sonia Pérez studied at Instituto Superior de Música in Camaguey.

In 1994 Sonia Pérez started touring the Netherlands and Belgium with the group Tradisón. Tradisón played at various radio en TV shows, and a lot off festivals. Sonia Pérez also recorded a album with Tradisón.

Since 1995 Sonia Pérez is living in the Netherlands and worked with different groups, like Cumbanero, Siete Potencias, Perlas Negras, Trio Amigos and others.

In the beginning of 2006 Sonia Pérez recorded her album "Una Chica Como Yo" in Cuba. The music was recorded in Cuba, Camagüey in the summer of 2005. the mix was made in studio Silvox in the Netherlands. On this disc appear Sonia's own compositions as well as two boleros from the repertoire of Sonia Pérez y Su Sonora Camagüeyana".
Currently Sonia is singing in the Dutch group Caimán. Caimán's latest release is "Somos Caiman".
